Collaborative, energetic and innovative, we bring fresh ideas with a diverse team and the cutest mascot in town.

Amber Henrie

CEO, #bosslady, and extrovert extraordinaire, Amber hung up her dancing shoes for a new kind of spotlight. Bringing principles learned in her ballroom dance training—discipline, tenacity, attention to details, and killer facial expressions—she transitioned into a public relations career, having since gained considerable experience in arts, culture, entertainment, food, and consumer technology industries. Before #entrepreneurlife, Amber won key speaking opportunities and industry awards for her clients as well as exposure in top print, online and broadcast outlets. She has cultivated impactful relationships with top journalists from all mediums. She encourages companies to look at simple ways to effectively utilize the benefits of technology, develop dynamic messaging, and employs constant inventiveness to tell the stories that matter most. Nestled in Harlem, at her desk with a coke or working to the hum of her self-customized treadmill desk, she is a #serialplanner and guilty of having too many pens (and a secret crush on Lionel Richie, but you didn’t hear it from us!). She holds a B.A. in Dance from Brigham Young University.

Kimberly Giannelli

With the spirit animal of a Clydesdale (#workhorse!), our V(I)P is no stranger to the lights! Whether donning a tutu, or marketing artists at ABT, NYCB, and Lincoln Center, Kimberly has just the right amount of Type A to make it happen! Coined as a “New York arts manager you need to know” by CBS Eye on New York, she has produced large-scale dance and opera events. Though mildly anti-social, she has developed resonant relationships with press and influencers in dance, theater, culture, political, fashion, society and fitness sectors. She links public relations, branding and social media efforts into a constant and furious funnel of staying power and accountability. Kimberly holds a Bachelor’s in Psychology with concentration in Dance Psychology, actively teaches and choreographs for dancers of all ages, and founded The Ballerina Ball, an interactive and creative dance concept which introduces young dancers to the great stories of classical ballet and beyond. Born and raised in Westchester, NY (it’s not upstate, idiot!), she spends her days spoiling her French Bulldog Penelope and is in the process of making her #instafamous.

Rosanna Palsencia

A Baruch Master of Corporate Communications (you know her mama has THAT framed!), Rosanna found a universe where her passions and skills align—#blessed! With a theater and film background, this #Bronxbombshell trained at the Atlantic Acting School where she was encouraged to write and produce her own work. In 2010 Rosanna was chosen for the New York Foundation for the Arts’ inaugural Artist as Entrepreneur Bootcamp, where she developed a love for finding ways to bring entrepreneurship to the arts. Rosanna worked with leading communications experts at the Arthur W. Page Society where she managed a recruitment project that resulted in 50% increase in membership—Girl, those are some serious metrics! She has developed strong relationships and media attention for clients in the technology and government sectors, lead social media and event management strategies for the Museum of Public Relations. She is passionate about bridging the gaps in the arts community and beyond—a girl after our own hearts!

Joon Shin

An inspirational change-maker and co-founder of In The Lights, Joon brings a wealth of experience, knowledge, and capabilities from the worlds of business, technology, and creative. From Fortune 500 to startups (that’s us!), he has provided governance, actionable execution, strategy and operational leadership to a vast assortment of companies. This jovial #coffeeholic mentor brings know-how and insight from his diverse professional portfolio—as partner for Content of Characters, board director for Dosha Pops, advisor to other startups, and consultant to small-to-medium enterprises (SME’s). He may not take himself seriously but he does in his work and is always looking to #empower and #elevate businesses and individuals, as evidenced in achieving Inc. 500 for one of his ventures. Our favorite #overachiever, Joon completed the Executive Master’s in Technology Management, a cosponsored program between Penn Engineering and Wharton School of Business, and received his BS in Mechanical Engineering from Lehigh University.

Katherine Lum

Katherine’s accumulated years of diverse experiences in various management careers over her professional life. From humble beginnings in Singapore as a bank real estate division clerk and a production planner with Apple Computer (#genuisOG), she travelled westward to the United States in pursuit of higher education and the perfect Hallal Guy’s chicken kebab! She’s had successful careers in NYC’s investment banking world, and the non-profit world—serving in senior management positions at two non-profits in Washington, D.C, one of which she co-founded. Katherine is a #financialowl and skilled at operations management, which makes us the luckiest gals in the world! She has a MBA from Brigham Young University and a Bachelors of Science in Business Management from Brigham Young University-Hawaii—and that’s no BS! Psst, on the QT, Katherine may sound “stuffy” but she is an “adventurer” at heart—after all, she’s the first expat in her family.

Kristin Hess

Kristin joins In The Lights with extensive knowledge in digital marketing, branding and design. As a #freelancerprodigy, her creativity has been steeped in the entertainment industry, and the results are delicious! She has done work for Contemporary Ballet Dallas, FirstCom Music, Platinum Sound Recording Studios, Wonda Music Label, indie-pop band Astro Lasso, “Dealers” TV series, Raising Cane’s Chicken Fingers, Hill Impact PR, Katour’s Luxury Salon (#freebalayageplease!) and more. She has re-branded over four companies which nominated her for a WeWork Creators Award in 2016. As a lover of all things arts and entertainment, Kristin is thrilled to be part of a team where she can use her past experiences and combine them with her passions. Kristin holds a BA in Arts and Entertainment Management with a minor in Commercial Dance from Pace University. She also sits on the marketing board for Contemporary Ballet Dallas and the Associate Producers board for Dallas Summer Musicals.

Penelope

A descendent from the royal family of Versailles, Penelope joins In The Lights PR team with ample experience in…not much. With a growing (and at times irreverent) Instagram account, what’s the fun of putting others in the spotlight when she’s got her own brand to grow! She has mastered sit and stay and learned that she can get extra TLC and treats on a conference call when she threatens to chime in—some say that’s her strategy to really maximize the bottom line! Whether hanging out at ITL headquarters or on the other end of a leash walking through the city, she loves to snuggle, beg for the team’s lunch, and makes new friends everywhere she goes. Penelope brings diversity to the team (our first French member!) and is by far the cutest…and the smelliest. Follow her on Instagram at @Penelopethefrenchpup

The Reviews Are in!

“As a reporter for NY1, I work with countless PR professionals. After working closely with In The Lights for many years, I can honestly say she is one of the best…she absolutely lives in the dance world and understands with great depth of the dance culture. But what sets her apart as a publicist, is that she is able to put that into context for non-dance professionals.”

Stephanie SimonNY1 News

“In The Lights goes the extra mile for their clients with good press releases, thorough information, photographs, phone follow-up and persistence. By providing a wealth of dance resources, In The Lights makes it easy for me to attend events and disseminate information to my readers.”

Walter RutledgeHarlem World Blog

“I’ve had the pleasure of interviewing In The Lights clients as guests on my radio show, but our relationship deepened when we hired them to do PR for my radio show’s 1-yr anniversary charity event. The team at In The Lights are incredibly talented, energetic, positive, professional, and deliver on the PR services they promise in every way. They are an extremely valuable part of the public relations presence of my brand. In The Lights has a gift for helping dance and arts organizations take their public relations presence to the next level.”

Ashani MfukoCEO, Kiner Enterprises Inc.

“Amber Henrie is an enthusiastic media savvy woman who cares deeply for dance and her clients.”

Christine JowersFounder, Dance Enthusiast

“Not all press agents go above and beyond like In The Lights to ensure coverage for their clients. They do great work for those they represent, bring enthusiasm to their pitches, and actually make it joyful (!!) to provide coverage.”
