Amber Henrie

CEO, #bosslady, and extrovert extraordinaire, Amber hung up her dancing shoes for a new kind of spotlight. Bringing principles learned in her ballroom dance training—discipline, tenacity, attention to details, and killer facial expressions—she transitioned into a public relations career, having since gained considerable experience in arts, culture, entertainment, food, and consumer technology industries. Before #entrepreneurlife, Amber won key speaking opportunities and industry awards for her clients as well as exposure in top print, online and broadcast outlets. She has cultivated impactful relationships with top journalists from all mediums. She encourages companies to look at simple ways to effectively utilize the benefits of technology, develop dynamic messaging, and employs constant inventiveness to tell the stories that matter most. Nestled in Harlem, at her desk with a coke or working to the hum of her self-customized treadmill desk, she is a #serialplanner and guilty of having too many pens (and a secret crush on Lionel Richie, but you didn’t hear it from us!). She holds a B.A. in Dance from Brigham Young University.

The Reviews Are in!

In The Lights has been great to work with. They've really listened to our concerns, they're quick to respond and they've transformed our social media channels into fun, visually engaging media outlets that represent our ethos and highlight our programming on a consistent basis. Very happy with them.

As an organization, we never understood the crucial role marketing must play in the success of any program, project or production. Our experience has always been that marketing and PR were last on the list to even think about. But working with In The Lights has been a refreshing learning experience, towards refining and strengthening our overall process of communication. We now understand the importance of knowing what our narrative is, and sharing that story with our present and future followers.

I first started working with Amber and her team in the beginning of 2013. This was my company's first time working with a PR firm and they more than met my already high expectations. They scheduled one-on-one time to really understand what was needed to develop a communications strategy for the upcoming year and gave suggestions to improve the company's overall visibility. I would recommend In The Lights PR without hesitation.

In The Lights helps us dream of how we can be better: better theater makers, better community organizers, better agents of social change, better presenters, and better educators. They burnish Irondale's reputation of integrity because of the integrity they bring to their jobs.

As a reporter for NY1, I work with countless PR professionals. After working closely with In The Lights for many years, I can honestly say she is one of the best…she absolutely lives in the dance world and understands with great depth of the dance culture. But what sets her apart as a publicist, is that she is able to put that into context for non-dance professionals.

Not all press agents go above and beyond like In The Lights to ensure coverage for their clients. They do great work for those they represent, bring enthusiasm to their pitches, and actually make it joyful (!!) to provide coverage.

Representing a cultural policy think tank is no easy task. In The Lights took the time to learn about what we are doing and have been extremely helpful in creating language that conveys complicated ideas in ways that people can understand and transmit to others.
